Global Grant Community

The Global Grant Community (GGC), a program of the African Academy of Sciences, aims to standardize, simplify, and strengthen the governance of grant funding.

At the heart of the Global Grant Community is the world’s first international standard for Good Financial Grant Practice (GFGP) (ARS 1651), which outlines in over 280 points Good Financial Grant Practice that major funders expect and look for when allocating funding.

Since February 2019, nearly 250 organizations have registered with the Global Grant Community portal and have completed assessments sent by funders through it to evaluate their compliance with the Good Financial Grant Practice standard. These organizations range from small community-based organizations in rural and urban African communities, to universities, research institutions, and large NGOs and charities.

By and large, the Global Grant Community helps to reduce the cost and time it takes to conduct due diligence by standardizing and digitizing the due diligence process for both funders and grant receivers—and ensures that the most trusted organizations receive funds that will enable them to work towards creating greater impact for people across Africa and the world.
