At its 2002 Awards Banquet, held October 19, 2002 at the Capital Hilton in Washington, D.C., WANGO presented its prestigious annual awards to seven NGOs and individuals for their remarkable achievements and outstanding and sacrificial service. Awards to NGOs were presented in the areas of peace and security, education, environment, human rights, family and peace, and interreligious cooperation, and WANGO's highest award to individuals, its Universal Peace Award, was likewise conferred.
